After over a decade of dedicated study, professional magician Christopher James has been entertaining millions of people across North America and India with his unique magic. He is able to astonish you as you walk down the street and stun you while you are up on stage with him. Christopher’s modern presentations create magic performances that everyone remembers.
In February of 2009, Christopher headlined the entertainment (dubbed “Info-tainment”) at the Pragyan ’09 Technology Festival, held at one of India’s most prestigious universities: the National Institute of Technology. In the city of Tiruchirapalli (“Trichy” for short), James was able to experience India for a few days before performing his stage magic show to over 1,500 people. Christopher is delighted to now be returning to India in September of 2009 to perform his stage magic show at the Techniche ’09 Technology Festival, held at another prestigious school in Guwahati, India: the Indian Institute of Technology.
In addition to performances for numerous major charities such as the Canucks Place Children’s Hospice, BC Guide Dog Services, Make-a-Wish Foundation, Helping Families in Need Society, Canadian Cancer Society, North Shore Super Cities Walk/Run for Multiple Sclerosis, PHS Community Services Society, and the Red Cross, Christopher has performed at large corporate events for Best Buy Canada, Investors Group, Mr. Lube, and many other companies. Private performances have brought him into the personal homes of thousands of people seeking magic in their lives. Performances by Christopher have taken place all over Canada, Seattle, in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and India.
The first Canadian national television appearance for Christopher James took place in 2003 for MTV Canada. Since then, he has had three more television appearances. During 2006, Christopher appeared on Canadian national television again on the show “969” on the Razer network. In 2007, Shaw TV, a local Vancouver television station, did a feature segment on the Performance Magic 12 course that Christopher teaches alongside David Noble. In 2008, Christopher made his fourth television appearance on VH1 based out of the US. His other publicity includes being an interviewed guest on Vancouver’s best Rock radio station, 99.3 FM “The Fox,” and various international newspaper articles.
Christopher has published two books about magic. His first book, “Magic, As I See It,” discusses his thoughts on various theoretical aspects of the art form. The second book, “The Black Book,” teaches some fantastic material that has received rave reviews from fellow magicians and audiences. Book publications are only one of the avenues that Christopher has been able to showcase his talents.
Christopher James is also a featured performer in two instructional magic DVD’s. The first is entitled “Kard Klub,” in which magicians from around the world perform magic in a street setting alongside commentary and advice for the student to learn. His segment was filmed in downtown Vancouver. The second DVD, “Scorpion,” was also filmed in downtown Vancouver; it features Christopher performing many pieces that he has created. Both of the instructional DVD’s were produced by a leading online magic company, Ellusionist.com.
In addition to mentoring several students worldwide, Christopher was one of the instructors for the Performance Magic 12 Class at Meadowridge Private School in Maple Ridge. This is the only accredited Fine Arts course on the Art of Magic in Canada. He was honoured to teach alongside David Noble, the school's Music instructor and also a prominent magician in Vancouver, BC. The course is still being run under David Noble’s instruction. Christopher also taught an after school magic program at the Vancouver Hebrew Academy.
